Our mission
Helping Make a Difference
Rural Animal Care (RAC) offers essential veterinary services, including surgeries and rehabilitation, for sick and injured animals from underprivileged communities. We provide these animals with medical care, chemotherapy, sterilizations, and, when necessary, euthanasia, helping them recover and return to their owners or our care for further recovery.
Despite facing significant self-funding challenges, we are determined to continue improving the lives of these animals. However, our ability to sustain these efforts alone has become increasingly difficult, and we urgently need external support to ensure we can keep providing vital care to those in need.

What We Do
Veterinary Care & Medical Support
We offer free veterinary care to domestic animals in rural and peri-urban areas east of Harare—saving lives where no other options exist for struggling families and their animals.
Rescue & Rehabilitation
From roadside rescues to critical care, we respond to urgent calls for sick and injured animals—treating trauma, disease, and malnutrition, and giving them a second chance at life.
Preventative & Welfare Services
Our work includes vital vaccinations, deworming, and education to prevent disease and suffering. Regular welfare checks help animals live healthier lives in often harsh and impoverished environments.
Essential Supplies & Shelter
We help provide food, clean water, and shelter for recovering animals and those in need. These basic resources are lifelines, especially during illness or times of drought and hardship.
Education & Community Support
Through home visits and follow-up care, we educate animal owners on health, nutrition, and humane treatment—changing mindsets and ensuring better lives for animals and their communities.
